Home / New WCOOP Championship Weekend announced for Nov 5-6: Boosted Main Events, big freerolls, more satellites

The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) 2022 will now crown its Main Event champions in November, as part of a new Championship Weekend.

The regular World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) 2022 schedule might end today, but the preeminent online poker series is far from complete.

This past Sunday (September 25) was all set to be one of the biggest and best on the PokerStars calendar. But unfortunately, due to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)* attacks resulting in temporary site outages, all games running on PokerStars had to be cancelled.

For both players and PokerStars staff alike, to say we were “disappointed” would be a drastic understatement.

So let’s make up for it.

A brand new WCOOP Championship Weekend has now been announced for the 5-6 November, with new and rescheduled tournaments, bigger guarantees, and a bunch of new ways for PokerStars players to get involved.

All cancelled WCOOP events will be rerun on Sunday 6 November, including:

  • All three No Limit Hold’em Main Events ($109, $1,050, $10,300)
  • The Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) Main Events ($109, $1,050, $10,300)
  • The Women’s Events ($5.50, $22, $109)

They will run for the same amount of days as the original tournaments would have. That means the NLHE Main Events will now run from Sunday 6, November to Wednesday 9, November, while the PLO Main Events will run from Sunday 6, November to Tuesday 8, November.

All NLHE Main Events will now include boosted guarantees, ensuring they’re even bigger and better.

And PokerStars will be running plenty of freerolls and added value satellites in the coming weeks leading up to the festival to help more people enter the tournament.

We’ll have more details on those as soon as they’re confirmed.

Stay tuned.

*What is a DDoS attack and how does it work?

During a DDoS attack, a series of bots attempt to flood a website with requests and traffic. Essentially, multiple computers storm one computer during an attack, pushing out legitimate users. It is not a hack of the site and no player data is accessed as a result.
