The pressure is also off Newcastle, who won 4-2 at Champions League-chasing Leicester last Friday, as Fulham joined Sheffield United and West Brom in the Championship next season after their 2-0 defeat by Burnley at Craven Cottage on Monday night.

Here are our best Newcastle vs Manchester City betting tips and we have dozens of other markets available for Friday’s game.

The lowdown

Guardiola hailed the most remarkable of Premier League title victories in a relentless campaign.

City had been eighth in the table on Christmas Day but Guardiola never lost faith as his side went on to complete 21 consecutive wins in all competitions.

He said: “This has been a season and a Premier League title like no other. This was the hardest one.

“We will always remember this season for the way that we won. I am so proud to be the manager here and of this group of players.

“They are so special. To come through this season – with all the restrictions and difficulties we’ve faced – and show the consistency we have is remarkable.

“It is relentless. Every single day, they are there, fighting for success, trying always to be better. They have been so, so resilient.

Newcastle will feature in the Premier League for a fifth successive season after their survival was confirmed by Fulham’s loss to Burnley.

The Magpies had given their chance a massive shot in the arm with a stunning win at Leicester, with boss Steve Bruce describing it “as good as we have played in the couple of years I’ve been here”.

But perfectionist Guardiola will demand no drop in focus ahead of the Champions League final so 9/10 they keep a clean sheet begins our Newcastle vs Manchester City betting tips.

First goalscorer tips

Riyad Mahrez is enjoying a good run of scoring form, with the Algerian grabbing three of City’s four goals in their Champions League two-legged triumph over PSG.

The former Leicester winger also struck from the penalty spot as City won 2-1 at Borussia Dortmund at the quarter-final stage and has 14 for the season in all competitions.

Having been left on the bench for the loss to Chelsea, Mahrez could well be in from the start on Tyneside and is a good option to continue his fine form.

Anytime goalscorer tips

After coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes against Chelsea, Foden is another who could return to the starting XI.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season for City and has netted 16 in total for club and country.

Having notched 10 of his 14 City goals in all competitions away from home, Foden to score at any time has obvious appeal.

Where the game will be won or lost

There is no coincidence Newcastle have struggled this season when Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin have been absent.

The pair’s importance to the team cannot be understated and you only have the look at the statistics as to why.

WIlson, the summer signing from Bournemouth, is the club’s leading scorer with 12 goals and he has also made five assists in his 26 appearances, of which he has lost 11.

Saint-Maximin is an explosive player who has also been hit by injury this season but he has three goals and four assists in 22 games, being on the losing side just 10 times.

Wilson grabbed his fourth brace this term in the win at Leicester, although he has since been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.

Bruce said after beating Leicester: “Once the big players return, it makes a difference. We have struggled with injuries and Covid-19 and that has been a major change. We were a threat, we were clinical which helps.”

Guardiola made nine changes to the side which beat PSG to advance to the Champions League final for the visit of Chelsea at the weekend.

Rotation will be the norm over the next few games ahead of the European showpiece with Chelsea so the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Foden and Mahrez could start in the north east.

With a Champions League final around the corner, places will be up for grabs so we don’t expect any drop off from City.

We are adding the visitors to be leading at half-time and full-time at 5/6 to our Newcastle vs Manchester City predictions and complete our tips by going for a 2-0 away win at 6/1.
