All eyes will be on Aintree at 5:15pm on Saturday for the world’s most famous race and we’ve picked out five leading fancies for our 2021 Grand National tips.

Tiger Roll won’t get the chance to emulate Red Rum as a three-time winner, but that won’t lessen the interest in the Liverpool spectacular.

With over 4m 2f to cover and 30 fences to be jumped around this unique course, numerous factors go into picking out a potential victor and these are our selections for punters to consider:

Cloth Cap

Owner Trevor Hemmings has enjoyed great success in this contest, scoring with Many Clouds, Ballabriggs and Hedgehunter and he has the firm favourite again this year.

Cloth Cap established his claims when landing what used to be the Hennessy at Newbury by an impressive 10 lengths and built on that with a smooth success at Kelso.

Trainer Jonjo O’Neill has always thought a lot of this nine-year-old and he is justifying that faith now the finished article both mentally and physically.

Any Second Now

Has already proven he can cope with big fields and major occasions by winning the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival.

Irish handler Ted Walsh knows what it takes to land this prize, having struck with Papillon back in 2000, ridden to Aintree glory by son Ruby.

Any Second Now bounced back from a spell in the doldrums when hacking up in a Grade 2 event at Navan last month and looks well handicapped on that evidence.

Burrows Saint

After watching Irish raiders dominate at Cheltenham it only seems sensible to have a Willie Mullins entry on our side at Aintree and this eight-year-old ticks plenty of boxes.

He was a well-backed winner of the 2019 Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse, when travelling well throughout and then keeping on strongly.

Hasn’t had a hard winter and should arrive in Liverpool fit, fresh and fancied to run a big race for his followers at a decent price in the Grand National odds.

Discorama

We’re staying on the Emerald Isle for the first of our each-way Grand National tips and really like the profile of this gutsy sort.

Paul Nolan is very adept at getting horses ready for a specific target and Discorama appears to have been trained with Aintree in mind this term.

He has been placed at three Cheltenham Festivals when attracting plenty of support, so clearly connections are convinced there is a big victory in him.

Canelo

Named after the great Mexican boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and could deliver a knockout blow to bookmakers after putting in several encouraging efforts this term.

Should have fond memories of travelling to Liverpool from Alan King’s Barbury Castle base in Wiltshire after prevailing over the regulation fences here in November.

Also won the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby on Boxing Day ahead of Snow Leopardess, who was then a decent fourth in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham next time out.
