Only two men are left standing in New York and it is world number two Daniil Medvedev who is tasked with stopping Novak Djokovic picking up his fourth US Open title.

We have three betting tips for the Flushing Meadows finale as Djokovic attempts to become only the sixth singles player, and first since Steffi Graff, to win all four grand slams in a calendar year.

Victory on Sunday night would also take Djokovic to 21 grand slam titles, one clear of long-time rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Here are our Djokovic vs Medvedev predictions as the Serb chases greatness.

Novak Djokovic vs Daniil Medvedev

The Serbian has been far from his best in this tournament but the five-set format always gives him a great chance of keeping tabs on his opponent and grinding them into submission.

He has conceded at least one set in all but one of his matches at Flushing Meadows so far and was taken all the way by the number four seed Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.

He came through that gruelling five-set encounter to make a record-equalling 31st grand slam final but the petrol may be quickly emptying from the 34-year-old’s tank having spent another three and a half hours on court against the German.

In contrast, Medvedev has breezed his way to a third grand slam final, only dropping one set during his march to Sunday’s showpiece.

He ruthlessly dispatched Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets last time and only two of his matches in New York have gone longer than two hours.

The Russian is playing at the peak of his powers and the number two seed’s energy reserves come could to the fore in what is set to be a hot and humid encounter on Arthur Ashe.

Djokovic does have the edge 5-3 on the head-to-head standings and has beaten Medvedev both times they have met over this five-set format.

Their most recent encounter came when the world number one lifted the first grand slam of the year in Melbourne, downing the Russian in straight sets.

Djokovic vs Medvedev predictions

Djokovic has lost the first set in each of his last four matches here in New York so we like
the 25-year-old to win the 1st set 6-3 or 6-4 as the first of our Djokovic vs Medvedev predictions.

Although this will be far from an easy night’s work for the Russian and Djokovic is not one to give up without a fight as he looks for a place in the history books.

The Serbian is a ferocious competitor and thrives in the five-set competitions.

So, if Medvedev is to lift his first grand slam title, he may have to wait long into the New York night and over 39.5 total games is the next of our Djokovic vs Medvedev predictions.

However, we think the time is right for Medvedev to lift his first major trophy and we fancy him to crush Djokovic’s dreams at 2/1 as the last of our Djokovic vs Medvedev predictions.
