Chinese-Themed Slots for Chinese Language Day

April 1, 2025

April 20th marks Chinese Language Day, which celebrates the contributions made by Chinese literature, language and poetry to culture all around the world. The UN holds events all over to showcase the rich history of the Chinese language. Workshops and seminars will feature Chinese authors, poets and musicians.

History of Chinese Language Day

Approximately 17% of the world’s population speak a variety of Chinese as their first language. That’s almost one fifth! No wonder it’s celebrated annually. The first Chinese Language Day took place in November 2010. It moved to April the following year, and it has been celebrated then every year since.

Mandarin is the most spoken of all of the Chinese variations, followed by Southern Min, Shanghainese and Cantonese. The first evidence of the spoken language was discovered over 4500 years ago. However, written artifacts discovered date back to 1250 BCE. With such a rich, long standing history it is no wonder this wonderful language has helped inspire many industries throughout the world.

The Impact of the Chinese Language

The Chinese language and China in general have had a massive impact on many industries around the world. The Zhou dynasty is often credited with the start of such events as it had such a major impact on things like literature, poetry and even astrology. Today these influences extend into every aspect of modern life. From fashion and clothing to art and cuisine, virtually everything has some form of Chinese influence these days. Even some of the casino games we play today are heavily influenced by China and the Chinese language. Let’s take a few of the top titles in more detail.

Chinese-themed Slots

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of Chinese-themed online slots available to play today. Here are three of our favourites which we believe you might enjoy.

Bull in a China Shop

Bull in a China Shop is set in..yep…you guessed it…a China Shop. The symbols represent a lot of Chinese artifacts, which link into Chinese Language Day pretty well. The main features are the Wild Bull, and the three free spins bonus rounds. While the rounds won’t be anything you haven’t seen before, combining all three into one game is quite rare.

Floating Dragon Hold & Spin

Floating Dragon is one of many in Pragmatic Play’s Hold & Spin series and this time they’re taking you to the Orient! It’s a very calming slot in terms of the aesthetics, which combined with a soothing soundtrack really does make for a relaxing gaming session. There are two main features which are the Hold & Spin feature and the free spins rounds. If you’re looking for a chilled slot session on Chinese Language Day, this should definitely be your go to game.

Mystic Orbs

If you’re looking for something a bit different this Chinese Language Day, Mystic Orbs could be the one. It doesn’t play like a regular slot, which adds to its appeal. It might take you a few spins to get used to it, but once you do, we’re sure you will enjoy this alternative slot game.

The slot actually comes with a story in that a dragon is guarding the entrance to the treasure chamber and it’s down to you to get by to all of the Riches inside. Visually, it’s not the best slot we have come across but the gameplay and storyline more than make up for that. There are six main features in the game which range from a bonus round through to multipliers. Elk Studios are known for pushing the boundaries of slot games and it’s done superbly once again in this one.
