The most extravagant casino events in history

June 10, 2025

Casinos are often linked to the high life. Due to the fact that they deal in the business of money, often when casinos (including online casino companies) host events, they are usually out of this world.

Luxurious, opulent and often coming with no expense spared, here is our list of some of the most extravagant casino events in history.

Nobody does events like the Monte Carlo Casino

One of the most iconic casinos in the world is the Monte Carlo Casino. Located in the millionaires playground of Monaco, the Monte Carlo casino has been the location of many iconic films, it is the setting of the iconic poker scene in Casino Royale (more of that later).

In a city which is full of some of the richest people on the planet, it isn’t surprising that over time it has hosted events that few can match.

Back in 2018, the Casino hosted an event called the ‘Lights of Gaming’ with a guest list that included Monaco’s Royal Family, those lucky enough to get a ticket were treated to an award winning light show inside the casino itself.

With ‘Light’ being the theme of the evening, as well as the light show, guests of the evening were able to sample food from Thierry Saez-Manzanares, one of Monaco’s greatest chefs.

Before we move on let’s focus on the casino’s love affair with James Bond. Bond has featured twice in the casino, firstly in Golden Eye in 1995 and then almost ten years later in Casino Royale.

With the casino keen to welcome fans of the franchise, the casino has hosted Bond themed events where people who attend can find out more about how the famous scenes were shot and meet some famous cast members. For those wanting to try their hand at the Poker table, the dealer from Casino Royale was even on hand to oversee the action.

Arguably the Monte Carlo casino is the most famous in the world and few do events better or more glamorous than them.

Las Vegas: A history of some of their greatest events

It isn’t a surprise that when breaking down some of the most extravagant casino events in history, Las Vegas has hosted many.

The party that kicked it all off

One event that still lives fresh in the memory is the party that was thrown to celebrate Las Vegas’s first ever resort hotel, El Rancho.

Opened in the 50’s, The Hotel El Rancho Vegas was Vegas’s first super hotel, and in true Vegas style some of the greats from the world of music and film were in attendance.

Legendary singers such as Dean Martin and Sammy Davis performed and Hollywood Royalty in the form of Paul Newman was also in attendance.

Vegas hadn’t seen a party like it in years and it paved the way for many more famous events to come.

The King gets married

It could be argued that no performer in history has built an affinity to a city like Elvis did with Las Vegas. So it was only fitting that the city played host to his wedding to Priscilla in 1967. Married at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in front of the world’s press and 100 friends, there are many images that can be found online, with the most recognisable being the couple standing alongside their five foot high wedding cake.

A Super Bowl like no other

The Super Bowl has always been regarded as one of the biggest sporting events in the world, but that was taken up a notch in 2025 when Las Vegas played host to the big game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

With the city abuzz with American Football fans from all over the world, some of Las Vegas’s most famous casinos hosted exclusive events that took watching the Super Bowl to a whole nother level.

Hotels like the Aria and Wynn, rolled out huge LED screens where people could watch from boxes or the swimming pool. As well as keeping the champagne flowing, world famous DJs would keep guests entertained during breaks in play and chefs put on extravagant spreads.

Vegas is still the number one party destination in the world and with the city hosting its annual Grand Prix and putting on a host of boxing and MMA bouts, there is often no party like a Vegas party.

Macau shows exactly why it’s viewed as the Vegas of the East

Few would debate that Las Vegas is the gambling capital of the world but hot on its heels is Macau.

Regarded as the Vegas of the East, Macau is home to many super casinos and hotels and just like you would expect to find in Vegas, there are plenty of memorable events that have taken place.

Without doubt, one of the most famous events which is held every year is Chinese New Year. When it comes to bringing in the brand new year there is often no expense spared. The Macau skyline is often lit up with stunning firework displays as people celebrate through the evening.

In the casinos there are many exclusive events with any gambling action being supported by dancing, singing and of course plenty of dragons.

If one day you want to celebrate Chinese New Year in the country itself, there is no better place to do it than in Macau.

Baden Baden Casino has many events celebrating the high life

Although Monaco often takes the crown when it comes to the top casinos in Europe, the famous Baden Baden Casino is close behind.

Located in Germany, it is one of the oldest casinos in the world. Filled with beautiful architecture and providing a stunning setting for any event, one of the best events that takes place is the annual Grand Prix Soiree.

Held before the finest names in equestrian gather for the Baden Galopp Grand Prix, it is an opportunity for the elite to gather and experience some fine dining.

With opulence encouraged, the casino is no stranger to hosting high fashion events. World famous designers have turned the casino floor into a one of a kind catwalk.

Whilst the glitz and the glam is often saved for Monte Carlo, no casino does high class luxury to the same level as the Baden Baden casino.
