Another tricky affair. SIMPLY FUN (7) threatened in some decent races last preparation and resumed with a 1.5L defeat this grade at Doomben. He is proven second-up and maps for a soft run. Has the tongue tie applied for the first time and Cartwright knows him well. VELOZES (13) presents third up for the premier stable (Gollan) and the in-form Jones sticks aboard. Brings two tidy efforts from Doomben and won her only third-up start. She has more to give over the longer sprint. FIRST MAN (4) was an easy Gold Coast Maiden winner building on near misses here and at Doomben. He will race forward from an inside barrier and has plenty of scope for improvement. He's been freshened and kept up to the mark with a positive trial. MAKE A CALL (5) wasn't beaten far in the Hawkesbury Guineas before switching to the Gollan yard. Third up now and is ready to show more. Has a wide gate but Maloney is reunited and count on him to manage.
