DESERT COUGAR (8) made a sustained run to get up for fourth when resuming over this distance at Tamworth last start. Better for that hit-out and this is a weaker maiden. Big chance to break through. WANAVAN (6) produced a career-best performance last time out when beaten just a length over 1100m at Scone. Has a tricky gate to contend with but his recent form stacks up nicely. SIZZLING BOY (5) has raced twice this prep, both times over 900m at Newcastle, and been out of his depth. Worth another chance back in a country maiden over a slightly longer trip. On-pacer PARISSIDENT (9) led but was claimed late over today's journey at Tamworth recently. Each-way chance with the help of an inside gate. SILVERTURN (10) disappointed as favourite on debut at Armidale recently. In a better maiden today but can improve and shouldn't be ruled out.
