SEVENTY may well have been brought along with handicaps in mind and appeals most now stepped up in trip on handicap debut. Golden Circet (due to run at Epsom on Wednesday) has made a good start for current connections and can go well again if turned out quickly, while Telepathic (a mixed bag on pedigree) could find some improvement if staying the longer trip.

Fitter for comeback run when opening his account for present yard at Bath (10.2f, firm) in April. Backed that up with creditable placed efforts in brace of Windsor handicaps the following month. Respected with the booking of Colin Keane catching the eye. Engaged 7.58 Epsom Wednesday.

Winner of a novice stakes at Southwell in December but 0-5 in handicaps since, not disgraced when sixth of 14 in handicap at Hamilton (11.1f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Can be competitive again but may prove vulnerable to improving types.

Won a novice race at Wolverhampton (9f) but struggled both starts in handicaps prior to pulling up amiss at Chester (12.3f) 19 days ago. Difficult to be confident about his chances unless the market hints at a revival with Hollie Doyle aboard first time.

3-timer runner-up for David Simcock but remains a maiden. Disappointing last run for that yard when last of 4 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f), not looking keen. One to treat with caution on stable debut.

Best run when well held third at Leicester (10f) but failed to match that on final qualifying run. Looks to be a stable lesser light but may have more to offer now handicapping.

    Verdict
Best effort to date on final qualifying run (faced with softer conditions than previously) when fifth of 11 in maiden (8/1) at Lingfield (10f, soft) 26 days ago, despite being keener than ideal. Could have more to offer on handicap debut.

    Verdict
Career best when winning 11-runner nursery at Wolverhampton (7.2f) in October though yet to match that as a 3-y-o. Given a chance by the handicapper having not been seen to best effect over 7f at Thirsk. Could be more competitive if staying this markedly longer trip (dam won over 10f).

Ghaiyyath colt made little impact in maidens over inadequate trips (still showing signs of inexperience) but is bred for further and could prove a different proposition on handicap debut over a more suitable trip. Interesting.

Ran to a similar level as on reappearance when 25/1, creditable sixth of 13 in handicap at Goodwood (9.9f, good to firm) 20 days ago. May need further leniency from the handicapper.
