VENETIAN SUN is taken to follow in the hoofprints of Dandalla, who landed this race for the Karl Burke yard in 2020 on the back of winning the Albany Stakes. Indeed, the Starman filly looked potentially smart at Royal Ascot, landing that Group 3 in convincing fashion, and she will prove hard to beat. Shine On Me and Spicy Marg, sixth and tenth respectively in the Queen Mary at the Royal meeting, are taken to fill the places.

240,000 gns Starman filly who accounted for the re-opposing Argentine Tango and 5 others on debut at Carlisle in May. Big step forward when making it 2-2 in the Albany at Royal Ascot (6f, firm) and, with further progress on the cards, she will prove hard to beat.

    Verdict
Yet to finish out of the first two and has progressed with each of her 5 starts, landing an 8-runner C&D listed contest (good to firm) last time. 6 lb better off with Venetian Sun compared to when beaten 1½ lengths at Carlisle in May, but that filly has since won at Royal Ascot and looks smart.

    Verdict
Good-looking filly who looked a useful prospect when landing 4-runner novice on the other course here in May. Only mid-field in the Queen Mary since, but travelled as well as any for much of the race, arguably pressing on a little earlier than ideal. No surprise to see her get back on track.

    Verdict
£160,000 breeze-up buy who shaped well when third on debut at Lingfield before running a big race to finish sixth in the 23-runner Queen Mary at Royal Ascot (5f, firm). This step up to 6f will be in her favour and she's entitled to have a say in the finish.

    Verdict
Promising second on debut in a Kempton maiden in May and duly improved when going one better in good style over this C&D (good to firm) a fortnight ago. Further progress likely and booking of Ryan Moore an obvious plus, but this represents a significant step up in class.

    Verdict
Fetched 180,000 gns as a yearling and wasn't hard pressed to see off a well-touted newcomer from the Kevin Ryan yard and 5 others on debut at Thirsk (6f, good to firm) last month. Impressed with the way she went through the race that day and there's surely better to come, but this is much tougher.
