US Open odds, preview and betting tips
The final grand slam of the season gets under way in New York at the end of the month.
Some of the biggest names in tennis are already putting their hard-court credentials to the test in preparation for one final shot of glory in 2021.
Here we take a look at the contenders for the men’s and women’s title.
Men’s US Open odds
Novak Djokovic
The decorated Serbian landed a sixth Wimbledon crown, the third leg of the calendar-year grand slam, and a record-equalling 20th major title at SW19 in July and is the overwhelming favourite in our tennis tips to lift the crown.
Despite suffering a shock defeat in the Bronze Medal match at the Tokyo Olympics, Djokovic will relish a return to the five-set format he has made his own in recent times and looks for a 13th career grand slam on a surface which suits his unrelenting style of play.

Daniil Medvedev
The world number two made the final at Flushing Meadows in 2019 when going down in a five-set thriller to Rafael Nadal and will be looking to go one better this time.
The Russian, who is the second favourite in our US Open odds, reached his second grand slam final when a runner-up in the Australian Open earlier this season and he has to come into the reckoning in the second major of the season played on the hard courts.

Alexander Zverev
A beaten finalist here 12 months ago, the world number five arrives fresh off the back of gold medal glory at Tokyo 2020.
The German thrived in the humid Japanese summer, defeating world number one Djokovic in the semi-final before brushing aside Karen Khachanov in the final.
He will be looking to continue riding a crest of the wave in New York and can be backed at 8/1 in our tennis odds.

Stefanos Tsitsipas
The 23-year-old world number three has had something of a breakthrough season, making the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the second time before appearing in his first grand slam final at the French Open.
He was no match for Djokovic on that occasion but he is becoming used to appearing at the business end of the big tournaments and is priced up at 10/1 in our US Open odds for success in New York.

Matteo Berrettini
The world number eight was a semi-finalist here in 2019 when losing out on a place in the final to eventual winner Rafael Nadal.
He has a great chance of at least matching that effort on the back of some fine grand slam performances this term.
A career best at the French Open saw him reach the quarter-final stage before he made his first appearance in a grand slam final at Wimbledon.
The Italian was no match for an on-song Djokovic in the SW19 showpiece but can take heart by the way he performed over the fortnight of the championships and is 18/1 to go one better at Flushing Meadows.

Women’s US Open odds
Naomi Osaka
Osaka came from a set down to pick up her second US Open 12 months ago and the four-time grand slam winner is 9/2 favourite in our US Open odds to make it a hat-trick at the Billie Jean King Tennis Centre.
Following time off for her well documented mental health struggles, the poster girl of the Tokyo Olympics will be tough to beat if hitting top gear on a surface she has dominated in recent years.

Ashleigh Barty
The Wimbledon champion and world number one demands plenty of respect and is the second favourite in our US Open odds as she seeks to land a third grand slam crown.
She has never made it past the fourth round in New York but her form on hard courts has improved in recent times, making the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2020.

Bianca Andreescu
The Canadian world number five is a 17/2 shot in our US Open odds to repeat her triumph here in 2019.
She got the better of the legendary Serena Williams then but her progress has been blighted by injury since and her recent record in the biggest events is far from inspiring, losing in the first round of both the French Open and Wimbledon this season.

Aryna Sabalenka
The world number three arrives at Flushing Meadows on the back of her best result in a grand slam when making the semi-finals at Wimbledon.
She lost out to Karolina Pliskova on that occasion but the Belarusian impressed in her two weeks at SW19 and is a 12/1 chance this time around in our US Open betting odds.

Karolina Pliskova
The former world number one, who currently resides at number seven in the rankings, lost out to Angelina Kerber in three sets here in the 2016 final.
The Czech 29-year-old, who is a 16/1 shot in our tennis tips, has bounced right back to her best this season and arrives fresh on the back of a second appearance in a grand slam final when runner-up at Wimbledon.
