Verdict

PLAYIN'IT SWEET (1) had a setback following her Burgess Queen win, but returned in good order last start when only caught late as the odds-on favourite. Back to her own age here and the last start effort suggests she hasn't lost a yard. Blown the cobwebs off now and can get back to winning ways. SHE'S HOT (7) resumed with a strong win at Pinjarra a fortnight ago, winning in a photo finish under Pike. She'll need some luck from the barrier, but she remains down in the weights and looks a progressive type on the rise. Can feature once again. BASSETT HOUND (5) looked a good thing on Wednesday, but lines up here which is a good push for his chances. Carbery sticks after being with him the whole way through and a forward showing is anticipated. I'M GENEVIEVE (8) won't be far away if she can pick up where she left off. PLAYING FREE (3) is not out of this first-up.

Form hard to fault. At the latest run set the pace for much of the race 2nd of 9 at this track Rtg 66+ on January 1 over 1200m, long-neck behind Prospector's Pick carrying 57kg at $1.95. The start before that favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by a head at this track LR Burgess Queen November 4 over 1400m defeating Talkanco carrying 55.5kg at $2.70. Good off a little setback last start and can go one better this time.

Three-year-old gelding making debut by Wootton Bassett out of Bound Copy. Purchased for AUD $ 70,000 (Magic Millions 2024 Perth Yearling Sale). Won a barrier trial at Ascot over 850m May 12 then followed up with a fifth over 1000m in a Belmont Park trial on January 5. Looked a good thing on Wednesday and it's a push for his chances that the stable choose to run here.

Previously second-up got back early 7th of 13 at this track in the G3 Gimcrack on April 12 over 1100m, 3.5 len behind Talkanco with 54kg at $51. Looks a nice filly on the rise and appears the main danger.
