CODIGO (2) looks a decent each-way play. Two runs back from a spell have been rock solid, running second in both. He tried hard down the straight at Flemington at big odds and comes back a notch in grade here. Drawn a touch awkwardly but if he can slot in, he should go close. RUE DE ROYALE (4) resumes. He's still stuck on the 1 win from 18 starts but has run very well in some good races. He dropped back to this trip before a spell in the Golden Topaz at Swan Hill and ran a solid race when well supported. Suspect the McEvoy yard will have him ready to go on their hometown Cup day. YOU'RE TWO VAIN (7) is the tricky one. He's unbeaten in four starts to date, measuring up in Melbourne with a good win at Caulfield Heath last time. This is harder and there's far more pressure over 1100m but he's hard to knock. SCAMPI (6) resumes. His best is close to the best in this field but he can put in a bad one. ZOUPER FUND (8) resumes having been in fine form last campaign, respect.
