We kick off the Flemington carnival with a cracking edition of the Carbine Club Stakes. REGAL AWARD (5) had plenty against him two back behind Navy Pilot, getting to this trip at Sandown Hillside last time and thumping his rivals by 7.5 lengths when sent forward. To caveat that, there were some big margins and quick times being run all day, but it was still ultra-impressive. PANOVA (9) is the interesting one. Chris Waller has won this race with Aeliana and Fangirl in the past few years, both were impressive winners of the Reginald Allen in Sydney prior. Panova fits the mould exactly and she should relish getting to a mile now. VINROCK (1) is the established class. He had every chance in the Caulfield Guineas but ran a strong race. He'll be hard to catch. WEST OF SWINDON (2) was disappointing in the Guineas but the Stutt win has to be respected. CALL DA VINCI (4) ran very well fresh and is suited to 1600m, suspect he'll run a very good race.
