HurdleClass 32m3f

Fairly useful Flat performer BRAVE KNIGHT was much improved when successful at this track last time and still looks very well-treated. Donnie Azoff didn't need to improve to land a second success of the year at Hereford last time and should remain competitive off a 3 lb higher mark, while Grenadier Jed would be interesting if returning in the sort of form he showed when landing a Taunton double in February.

Made all in a brace of small field handicap chases on soft/heavy ground at the beginning of last season but ran too badly to be true upped in class when pulled up in a listed handicap at Punchestown in May. Races off 6 lb lower hurdle mark on return but this could be a pipe-opener.

Successful at Uttoxeter on reappearance and back to form when third over the same C&D in September. Didn't need to improve to resume winning ways in a small field at Hereford (21.7f) last time and he's a player if arriving in similar form.

Fairly useful 2m Flat winner for Sir Mark Prescott and confirmed himself a useful type over hurdles when an improved, wide margin winner at this track (17.7f) last month. Back up in trip/class but still looks very well-treated.

Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland. Ran poorly in first-time blinkers (now removed) on final start for Tom Dreaper in April. Tongue tie refitted for stable/handicap debut but will need to improve to get off the mark over a longer trip.

Fair hurdle winner in France but comfortably held in a trio of handicap hurdles for Nicky Henderson. Has a bit to prove (with headgear removed) on first start for new connections.

Ended time with John Joseph Murphy with a career-best win over hurdles (only fair form) at Clonmel in December 2023. Taken a long time to get him back to the track and the market should guide on first start for new trainer.

    Verdict
Progressive earlier this year, winning on handicap debut at Taunton (19f, soft) in February and following up with plenty in hand over the same C&D later that month. Will need to overcome an 8-month absence to land the hat-trick but has claims if returning in a similar vein of form.
