The Group 1 Moir Stakes and BARAQIEL (7) goes on top after winning the Carlyon Stakes impressively here first up. He's a horse who has had plenty of issues but there's no doubting his ability, travelling sweetly behind the leaders there and sprinting quickly once he got a gap to win well. Stays at 1000m which is perhaps the knock but the way he won there suggests it shouldn't be an issue and on ability he's very well placed. OAK HILL (9) started $2.50 favourite in the Carlyon off an impressive win here first up. Things didn't go to plan there when racing keenly and failing to finish off, but he'll get more pace on here and be the one flashing late. No knock on NIANCE (14) for the Begg yard who has an imposing record and is sparingly raced. 1000m looks find for her and she has versatility. G1 Lightning Stakes winner SKYBIRD (11) resumes and that win alone has to be respected. Not sure a fast 1000m around here is her best scenario however. ALABAMA LASS (12) next best.
