An unsettled forecast may tip this in favour of hurdle debutant CREST OF STARS whose recent bumper success has been franked by the third winning at Cheltenham. He's narrowly preferred to Cueros, who merits plenty of respect back in a novice (under a penalty) but wouldn't be ideally suited by softening ground. General Briar completes the shortlist given he was running well when falling behind A Pai De Nom on hurdle debut and could go well dropped in trip.

Pitched in deep for debut in Cheltenham listed bumper. Had the run of race under a more positive ride and showed much improved form to win a Newton Abbot bumper (soft) on return (third a winner at Cheltenham since) and he makes plenty of appeal on first start over hurdles.

Fairly useful on Flat in Jersey. Scored in impressive style on his yard/hurdling bow at Newcastle (16.9f, good) but was unable to justify support under more testing conditions when second in an introductory hurdle at Wetherby last time. Solid claims back in a novice under a penalty.

From a family his yard know well. Fair form to place on bumper debut and would have hit the frame behind Pai De Nom when falling on hurdle debut. Ran to a similar level when third at this track (20.5f soft) last time but may fare better under a positive ride down in distance.

Best effort when in first-time tongue tie when third of 9 in bumper at Wetherby (16f, soft) in February. No chance in listed company subsequently and was well beaten on Flat debut when last seen in April. Had wind surgery since and needs to take a step forward to make a winning hurdle debut.

Showed more than previously when picking up the pieces to finish a well held third in a 6-runner C&D novice on reappearance earlier this month. Still has plenty to find in this company.

Modest on winner Flat (stays 1½m). Runner-up previous two starts in all-weather handicaps and since sold from Richard Hannon 6,000 gns later in October. Likely to be an outsider on stable/hurdle debut.

Needed experience in bumpers and yet to show any ability over hurdles, finishing last on comeback at Stratford last month. Significant improvement needed in first-time tongue tie.
