PORTLAND (5) ended her juvenile prep at Stakes level and failed to handle the very heavy track at Otaki that day. She resumes from a spell with a recent trial placing under her belt. She has plenty of scope, and is sure to have plenty of admirers fresh up. RUSSIAN BLUES (4) did not fire at Taupo nearly 3 weeks ago on a testing track. She was only narrowly beaten on the Cambridge poly track before that, and is expected to bounce straight back into the money here. CAPE REINGA (2) looks to be a very promising type with 2 wins at the trials, the most recent of those earlier in the month in his first run as a gelding. He has the right draw and will be very hard to hold out. GINGER MISS (7) finished last in her only start as a juvenile in Stakes company, and will be a lot stronger now. She has since joined the in-form O'Sullivan/Scott stable and is ready to rumble after a recent trial win. TRYPTIC (9) won her only trial comfortably and will have Gary Grylls in the irons for her debut.
