LADY MAXIMA (11) made her debut in the spring at Timaru and finished runner-up by half a length as the favourite. She had won a trial before that, and will be a lot stronger this year. Hard to beat in this. SUNSHINE (14) won a trial by a wide margin before finishing sixth on debut, and then improving from that effort to finish third at Kurow just over 2 weeks ago. She is ready to win now. CALL TO ARMS (2) won a couple of trials before racing greenly on debut and finishing sixth at Kurow against a similar field on debut. He will be better for that experience, and with some luck from a tough gate, he can figure in the top 4 this time. FULL CREAM (10) was beaten by a nose at Ashburton in her penultimate start, and then finished in the same position at Ashburton 3 weeks ago. She cops a decent draw this time and can go one better. NOVELETTE (17) last raced at New Plymouth 18 days ago when fresh from a spell. Each-way claims in this, especially if the money comes for her.
