PROFESSIONAL LAD (6) finished second by a nose in the G3 War Decree Stakes here in his penultimate start, then went huge for sixth in the G1 2000 Guineas 10 weeks ago. He has trialled since then and is the one to beat in this. OPTIONS OPEN (11) is a progressive maiden gelding who was a game third at Ashburton a month ago. She cops a tricky gate, but can figure in the top 3 again. STUDENT OF WAR (7) did not cope with the quick backup at Omoto last time out and raced keenly throughout the running. He has more time between runs this time, and with the advantage of the pole position, he can bounce straight back into the money. EXPLODE (1) only peaked on his run late when resuming with a fifth at Timaru nearly 4 weeks ago. He strips fitter and can pick up some money here. ZAVISION (12) won a trial very easily before finishing fourth fresh up at Ashburton a month ago over 1200m. The extra furlong is ideal, and he can't be taken lightly. Each way.
