Verdict

Already a much-improved model this season, LUD'OR is totally unexposed over staying trips and could be the answer in an open-looking renewal. It would be no surprise to see Dan Skelton's Tranquil Sea make a bold bid for this valuable pot, having not been seen to best effect at Cheltenham last time, while Minella Missile was an exciting novice a few seasons back and he'd be interesting if building on a more promising run over 2½m in cheekpieces here on New Year's Day.

Proved a different proposition when making all in 2m4f Bangor handicap on return in November and confirmed that improvement off much higher mark when clear third in strong handicap at Newbury (20.5f) latest. Up another 3 lb but he's unexposed over staying trips and there could well be more to come.

Relatively unexposed stayer who made a winning reappearance at Ayr prior to finishing fifth in the Betfair Stayers' handicap at Haydock. Resumed winning ways with a smooth-travelling success at Carlisle (25f, soft) and while this is more competitive, he's clearly in the form of his life.
