WINTER ROSE (7) has made an encouraging start to her career, and was doing her best work late when finishing fourth over 1800m at New Plymouth last start. She drops back to 1600m, which is a touch concerning, but she is trained by a master, and she should be among the hardest to beat here. HARD ROCK CAFE (1) has his form heading in the right direction, and he made up many lengths when finishing runner-up by less than a length at Hastings just over a fortnight ago. He maps to settle a tad closer from the pole position, and he should go close to winning this. COCO ROYALE (6) followed up a fair effort on debut for third with a better effort for second at Hastings over 1400m last time out. The extra 200m is ideal for this progressive mare, and she can go one better. ACORN (5) has found some form on the Awapuni poly track, and that should ensure that she is fit enough to cope with a heavy turf surface here. Stick with her. CONFIDE (8) was much better when third last start. Keep her safe.
