Onto our feature, honouring the great Deane Lester. BLACK RUN (3) comes down from Sydney in solid form for this. He stepped up to 2400m two back in the Listed Winter Cup and gave a huge sight behind Thebudgiesmugla who has won the Caloundra Cup impressively since. He just battled last time giving away weight to some progressive ones but gets a nice run here and the different form appeals. The rest largely come through the Banjo Paterson Final won by HIGHLAND BLAZE (6). He proved far too good receiving 7kg off BOLD SOUL (1) there, too strong out wide. That gap is now 4kg, both should be fighting out the finish again. SAMUEL LANGHORNE (9) got home well for third there and has claims again, he'll be going jumping soon with the Musgrave yard. VIRTUOUS CIRCLE (5) has thoroughly worn out patience but he is good enough to win this.
