Verdict

GETHIN is quite a keen goer but his near miss in a French listed race last autumn shows he has the stamina for 1½m and he can bounce back from his below-par run in the Eclipse and prove too strong for Pride of Arras and Tornado Alert. Outstanding hurdler Constitution Hill showed enough in 2 all-weather wins in the spring to think he can make his presence felt in Group races on the Flat.

Reappeared to win listed Magnolia over 1¼m here in April. Very smart effort when pushing Ombudsman close (albeit in receipt of 7 lb) in the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown in May. Possibly unsuited by fast ground when disappointing in the Eclipse back there in July. Can bounce back with a bang.

Exceptional hurdler at best, winner of 8 consecutive Grade 1s, including Champion Hurdle in 2023. Switched to the Flat after suffering a series of falls and impressed when winning a pair of all-weather novices (C&D latterly) in February/March. Capable of making his mark in much stronger company.

All-weather maiden winner at 2 and showed smart form last year, culminating with 1¼m German Group 1 success under Oisin Murphy. Reopposing stablemate Dubai Future was narrowly ahead of him in another German Group 1 on reappearance but he should turn the tables on him in receipt of weight now.

Resumed with cosy success at York in May and very smart handicap performance when second of 17 in Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot (1½m) in June. Below par when tenth in John Smith's Cup back at York last time but freshened up since and capable of making an impact at Group 3 level if back to best.

Has an excellent record at York, winning Dante and Great Voltigeur last year and shrugged off a disappointing reappearance in France when chasing home subsequent International winner Item in the Sky Bet Stakes there at the end of July. Has the form to go close at the least on this all-weather debut.

    Verdict
Smart veteran who bagged another Group win when just holding off Sweet William in Henry II Stakes at Sandown (2m, good) in May. Good ¾-length third (Tornado Alert nose back in fourth) to Tiffany in German Group 1 latest but has a penalty to shoulder back in a Group 3 and likely vulnerable.

Developed into a smart colt last year, bagging listed races at Newmarket and Ayr. Best effort since when 3¼ lengths third of 6 to Ombudsman in Brigadier Gerard Stakes in May. Below par when behind a couple of these rivals in a German Group 1 last month. Makes polytrack debut.
